Highlight: Are you interested in a more environmentally-based education system and want to try something different?. If so, consider participating in the Masters Indigenous Land-Based Education (M.I.L.B.E) at the University of Saskatchewan. This land-based education program is a masters program that’s all about understanding Indigenous techniques through on-the land learning hosted by indigenous communities. Some courses you can take in this land-based education program include: cross cultural research methodology, indigenous research epistemology and methods, and ethics and integrity in animal research. You can find more of these in the program and course catalog. Students then combine those techniques with modern day techniques in order to learn in a more unique way to develop critical thinking skills, with the program culminating in a community capstone project. This land-based education program is also very flexible. Thanks to its blended model, if you can’t make it in person because you are unable to leave your community due to work and/or family commitments, you can always participate online. This land-based education program also offers financial aid to cover the costs of the program and honors the Jay Treaty. The application window opens early November and closes mid February and has a $120 (CAD) application cost. So if this sounds like your type of thing, be sure to check out the admission requirements and apply here!
