Admissions Req: Applicants must be 18 years old at the start date of the firefighting program, must provide proof of completion of high school, have some basic first aid, plus proof of physical ability and CPR.
Other bonuses– fluency in an additional language other than English, experience being a part of a team, mechanical aptitude, positive attitude and good work ethic

Highlight:  Ever dream of becoming a firefighter? Justice Institute of British Columbia offers an academic firefighting program. During the 7 week-long firefighting program, you will receive hands-on training at Canada’s most prestigious fire training campus. It’s a unique program where “hands-on”training means live firefighting experience in a three-story burn building, a steel ship training prop, a rope rescue tower, and Western Canada’s only 11-car train derailment training prop! In addition, you will receive individual mentorship from leading fire training officers from Metro Vancouver fire departments. It’s a three part program with online firefighting courses, on campus applied learning courses, and a liberal studies component that gives you NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1001 certification. Plus, you will have access to volunteer opportunities to apply your new knowledge and skills both during and after completing this firefighting program! Worried about the time commitment? Have no fear, there  are full and  part-time options available. And…you can also receive  transfer credits for any relevant postsecondary liberal studies coursework you’ve already done! Up to four intakes/ year…think about it. We think you’ll agree, it’s fire!
