Highlight: Are you a college undergraduate who is interested in STEM and is seeking a research internship? Well, if that is the case, Washington State University’s annual REU program may be the perfect opportunity for you to conduct research and expand your knowledge. This summer research program offers numerous research projects in which you will collaborate with a team and award-winning professors to work on. Not only do you get access to research workshops, but the university provides a $6000 stipend and covers all housing and travel costs, making the research program accessible to all. As an additional bonus, students are taken on a paid trip to the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory to hear from scientists regarding their research and career opportunities, and are able to go on many outdoor adventures such as water rafting, hiking, fly fishing, and more! Example research areas within the research program include work with phonons and shockwaves, quantum wave functions, photons, and the cosmos. Moreover, the internship concludes with a poster presentation at the WSU Undergraduate Summer Research Symposium, a great way to gain new skills and share your work with other researchers. The application is due in early February! So, make sure you don’t miss the deadline and miss out on this fabulous research program!
