 Program Length: This is a 10-12 week paid summer internship that has job training and research experience included.

Location: Ford Island, near Pearl Harbour, Hawai’i

Admissions Requirements:
Must be a United States citizen, full-time status undergraduate student with no fewer than 24 credit hours earned, GPA of 3.0, majoring in an area related to marine study, full participation during the internship, residing in Hawaii

Highlight:  Interested in gaining research experience related to marine life and biology? If so, the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center Young Scientist opportunity, hosted by NOAA, is the perfect opportunity for students interested in marine life. This opportunity caters to students, who are full-time undergraduate students, and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA, majoring in an area related to marine life.

During this internship, interns will commit to work for 10-12 weeks at the Pacific Island Fisheries Science Center located in Hawaii. This opportunity is special as it give students interested in marine life and biology a pretty unique opportunity to observe, monitor, and record data in different marine areas of marinelife as well as fish biology….plus, it’s paid! And in Hawai’i!  Here are some of the projects for 2024. This internship is open to college students from the US who are able to reside in Hawaii during the internship. Interns will be able to gain knowledge and experience that will allow them to be successful when they go out to find a job related to their major. Interns will get formal training during their internship. Interns have the opportunity to participate in an additional 2-year project connected to this program if that is something they are interested in.

Interns must submit a cover letter, statement of interest, resume, academic transcript, and a letter of recommendation from a professor. Application review and selection will take place in March.
