Interested in solving real-world challenges using NASA’s open data? The NASA International Space Apps Challenge, which runs during one weekend in October, is a global event with thousands of participants. This NASA space hackathon provides an opportunity for innovators of all ages and backgrounds from all over the world to collaborate to create solutions to Earth and space challenges using open data from NASA and its Space Agency Partners. Every year, hundreds of teams submit ideas that exhibit their creativity, teamwork, and ability to address Earth- and space-related concerns. All you have to do is create an account, register for the hackathon, choose an in-person or a virtual local event, or the virtual universal event, join or form a team of not more than 6 participants, and get ready to submit your project by the given deadline! Each year, the theme may differ, with the theme for 2024 being “The Sun Touches Everything” in alignment with the Heliophysics Big Year, a global celebration of the Sun’s influence on Earth and the entire solar system. Specific challenges following this theme are developed by NASA Subject Matter Experts and released to participants a couple of months prior to the hackathon. Check out the resource page and the FAQs pages for more information. The winners of this NASA space hackathon are determined after numerous rounds of assessment, and they represent the most innovative and impactful solutions submitted by the NASA Space Apps community. Winners receive a global award from NASA and an invitation to visit the NASA center. This is an opportunity to broaden your talents! Register now to challenge your skills in innovation!
