Highlight:  Storytelling knows no bounds. The Meridian Stories: Annual Digital Storytelling competition invites middle and high school students to explore the limitless bounds of digital storytelling in the categories of Language Arts, History, and STEAM. There are in total 15 “Challenges” in these three categories of this storytelling competition with interesting prompts for you and your team to submit stories either in  video or audio form, depending on each competition. Each school can submit 3 entries for each competition by paying an annual subscription fee of $250. So, talk to your school and encourage them to get in touch – brett@meridianstories.org – and enter the storytelling competition. Get creative! There are some really fascinating prompts for you to think about in this story telling competition. For example, for the 2023 contest, students were challenged to re-imagine a Shakespearean soliloquy in the Dramatic Reinvention – Language and Arts or you could suggest ideas to reform the UN Security Council in the Global Team Building – History. Looking ahead to 2024, a sneak preview of the new competitions – which will be announced by the end of August – include digital story challenges around creating your own mathematical game board; re-telling myths and tales from ancient civilizations; and creating a comic sketch about …poetry. You can also check out their library of past projects and see 2023 submissions to get you inspired! In addition to the competitions, you could also check out their professional development workshops on digital storytelling. Still have questions, you can contact them here! So, what are you waiting for? The application closes in spring, so get creative and tell your story!

Cost: $250 USD for all competitions per year. To be paid by the school
