Highlight: Do you live in California? Are you a current junior or senior in high school, or a college student who dreams of working in medicine one day? Then the Kaiser Permanente Launch health care work experience could be perfect for you! This health care work experience provides programs for both high school and college students. High school students participating in this seven week health care work experience will attend weekly workshops, gain networking opportunities, earn the minimum wage in their city, and more! The health care work experience looks to grant applicants from diverse backgrounds access to the professional Kaiser Permanente  community. Students must between the ages of 16 to 19, be able to work full-time from late June to early August, and be permanent residents in a Northern California Kaiser Permanente designated service area, among other eligibility requirements. Successful applicants will be assigned to their nearest Kaiser Permanente Medical Center/business office and work in a variety of different departments such as nursing, internal medicine, or others. College students attend an extra week of this health care work experience, and must be available between mid June to early August (unless their academic schedule conflicts with the program dates). They’ll be exposed to various opportunities such as mentorships, job shadowing, workshops, and more. The requirements to be in the college program of this health care work experience are relatively similar to the ones for the high school program: be between the ages of 18 to 24, be currently enrolled in a 4 year college or university, and be a permanent resident of a Northern California Kaiser Permanente designated service area, along with a few other requirements. Unlike the high school program, successful applicants of the college program will be working in the Oakland area and be paid between $21.20 to $24.90 based on previous experience.
