Highlight: Attention all high school students! Are you a team player who enjoys problem solving challenges, especially STEM related challenges? If so, have we got a STEM program for you!! The New York Academy of Sciences picks 1000 of the world’s brightest high school students from 13-17 years old from anywhere around the world to be part of their STEM Junior Academy Program. Through the academy’s virtual collaborative learning program, you will start with a 4 week boot camp where you become part of a virtual network with other international high school students and have an opportunity to meet and chat become part of a team. This 4 week period also allows you to become familiar with the format and tools and expectations of the program. You will then move into the 10 week challenge period and work alongside STEM fanatic students and STEM professionals/ mentors for the duration of the challenge. Challenges are run twice per year, from September through December and once again from January through May. and are based around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Some of the past challenges that have been solved include, improving diagnosis of rare diseases and the future of aviation technology.
