Middle school students: One week, late July
High school students: Two weeks in June for the JSTI West and two weeks in July for the JSTI East

Location:
Middle school students: Towson University in Towson, MD
High school students: There are two locations for JSTI-HS. JSTI West is in the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. JSTI East will take place at Towson University in Towson, MD.

Admissions Requirement:
The requirements for middle school applicants include being a U.S. citizen, being older than 11 by July 20, 2024, and entering the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the 2024-2025 academic year. For more in-depth application requirements visit here. For high school applicants, they must be either 16 years or older for the West Campus or 15 years or older for the East Campus. They must also have maintained a GPA of 2.00 for this STEM opportunity. The application for high schoolers can be found here.

The Joint Science Technology Institute is a prestigious program that brings together talented students and educators from around the world for an immersive experience in cutting-edge scientific research and technology. What makes the Joint Science Technology Institute truly special is its unique combination of hands-on laboratory work, engaging lectures from experts in various fields, and a collaborative final project that challenges participants to think critically and creatively. Middle schoolers will participate in STEM challenges and projects, while high school participants will participate in more hands-on research projects with Department of Defense mentors.
