This summer coding program is sponsored by Google to contribute towards open-source software advancement. Participants (above 18 years) get to work on real developmental projects with open-source organizations selected by Google under the guidance of mentors. Participants are required to submit their proposals between mid March to mid April to enroll in this summer coding program. You can check out the past programs page to get an idea of the organizations and projects completed in the past, as they encourage everyone to reach out to their interested organizations ahead of time. Once contributors for a specific program are selected, they can spend up to 3 weeks connecting with open source community to learn the codebase, best practices, and work on milestones and project schedules with their mentor. With the project schedules established, this summer coding program typically lasts for 12-22 weeks, offering flexibility and can be adjusted according to the program schedules.
