Admissions Req:
• Competitors must be currently enrolled in a Canadian high school and in grade 9, 10, 11, or 12.
• Teams must be made up of 3-4 students. in addition,
• Each team is allowed 1 teacher advisor that they may consult with throughout the finance competition.
• Only one team per school can continue beyond the first round. *Schools can submit multiple teams but only the top performing team in the Finance Investment Challenge from each school will move on to compete in the Finance Investment Challenge Presentation and Trading Challenge.*
Highlight: Are you a Canadian student between 9th and 12th grade that has an interest for the world of finance? Does economics, trade, and investment spark your imagination and take you to what could be your future in finance? Well, the High School Finance Competition by University of Lethbridge’s Dhillon school of business is an annual accounting and finance-focused competition that would be the perfect spark for your flare in finance! This would allow you, alongside 2 to 3 other members of your school, to participate in this finance challenge and present your results and experiences to an expert platform of judges. You could also be in for a chance to win between $500-$1000 if your team places in the top three. This finance competition is composed of three main challenges: the investment challenge where you will invest and manage a portfolio using simulated money in real markets, the Investment Challenge presentation where your team will be required to create a video no longer than 8 minutes in length to convey your investment challenge strategy and results, and lastly the trading challenge where you will be competing against other teams in two live virtual trading cases in the Centre for Financial Market Research and Teaching (CFMRT, aka the Trading Room). “The real value of money is less about the given amount and more how about you manage it” so let this Finance Competition push you and your teammates to the max!
