This is an established marine program through Northeastern University but at this
point in 2021, the summer sessions have not been confirmed and the applications
are not available. There is still hope, however, that the program will run in 2021.
Location: In-person at Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts

Highlight: Are you interested in the world’s waters and what lies within our marine system? Are you also fascinated by the habitats that occupy our coastlines and what factors help shape the way the world’s coastlines survive? Well, the marine program, the Coastal Ocean Science Academy (COSA) by Northeastern University is perfect for you! Located on the rocky shore of Nahant, this is a summer marine program that would help take your fascination to the next level. Students who are entering 7th to 12th grade are welcome to apply to this marine program. In this coastal marine program, you will spend 5 days researching local coastal and marine habitats. Throughout this marine program, students will analyze their research results too. This marine program helps develop basic research skills and note-taking skills that can be applied to any aspect of your life- including school! And if you’re a second-time attendee of this marine program, you will also gain ample access to field sites for data collection as well as guidance in developing sound research questions, methodologies, analyzing data, and presenting results. Although there is a fee associated with this marine program, scholarships are offered to accommodate all students whose families meet the federal guidelines for income eligibility. All you need to do is select the option for a scholarship on this marine program’s registration form. It is said that “the ocean is as near as we will come to exploring another world” so why not apply today and start exploring not only the ocean but the depths of your mind!
Financial: Middle School: $600 total and $50 optional shuttle fee
High School: $1200 total and $100 optional shuttle fee
Scholarships available for families that meet federal guidelines for income eligibility.
