Eligibility: Anyone from any country can enter for free so long as their work has not been published with a rate of  0.8 cents per word or more and has not had more than 5000 copies sold.

Application Deadline: Applications are accepted all throughout the year. Submissions are judged and prizes are awarded quarterly 

Highlight: Sometimes, there are people who do it all! The Writers and Illustrators of the Future contest, by Author Service, is a reputable and widely regarded writing and illustration contest. It is a contest hosted in honour of the late L. Ron Hubbard who was a soldier, artist and author who penned over a million words in a year, each volume of that decalog being bestsellers. There are two categories to this sci fi contest; writing and illustration. For the writing sci fi contest, your submission must be a 17,000 word prose in the science fiction genre, further rules mentioned here. For the illustration portion of this sci fi contest, your submission must include 3 illustrations (photography, grayscale and computer generated art are allowed) each of which must be based on the science fiction theme but cover different subjects. This sci fi contest takes place every three months, with three prizes awarded every quarter. $1000, $750 and $500 are awarded to the first, second and third prize winners of the writing sci fi contest, respectively. Additionally, the 4 first place winners compete annually for $5000. In the illustration sci fi contest, $500 prizes are awarded to three artists every quarter, with the 12 winners competing for an additional $5000 grand prize annually. Finally, the winners and judges of this sci fi contest are invited to join slightly more famous invited literati, at the Gala Awards Ceremony, the recordings of which you can watch here.
