Entries must be original and unpublished, submitted by mail or online via Submittable.
Application Deadline: June 1st (postmarked for mailed entries and before 11:59 pm Atlantic Standard Time for Submittable entries)
Highlight: Are you someone who enjoys writing, gathering, and analysing facts. If you are in 9th grade or up and live anywhere in the world you have the opportunity to win $2,000 CAD (around 1,570 USD) through the Fiddlehead’s Annual Nonfiction writing Contest, which is now open for submissions! To enter this nonfiction writing contest you have to pay around $35 CAD if you’re from Canada, but if you are entering a submission internationally you need to pay a fee of $50 CAD (approximately $40 USD). Note that for additional submissions there will be an added on fee of $10 CAD ( around 7.85 USD). Your submission for this nonfiction writing contest can be a max of 6,000 words and can be submitted online through the platform submitable or you can mail it to them directly at The Fiddlehead Campus House 11 Garland Court University of New Brunswick Fredericton NB E3B 5A3 Canada. Along with your first entry, you will receive a one-year subscription to The Fiddlehead. Should you be the lucky winner, your entry will be published in The Fiddlehead and on their website – so we are talking way better exposure than that folder on your laptop!. The deadline for this nonfiction writing contest is the first day of June so if I were you and you were someone who simply enjoyed dabbling in, or lived and breathed, non-fiction , I would start brainstorming asap!
