The stages of this piano competition are as follows: a virtual preliminary round, an in-person second round, a semifinal round, and the final round. Depending on the stage of the competition, the pianist may be asked to play a specified piece, choose their own, or both, so make sure to check out the specific requirements! The contestants will stay with volunteer host families for the in-person stages, with a $200 stipend offered for US flights and $400 for international flights. By taking part in this piano competition, you have the opportunity to play for New Mexico Philharmonic’s audiences, and winners have the chance to win cash prizes and more! The first place winner receives $15,000 and concert engagements throughout the US and Europe and a professional recording, the second place winner receives $10,000, and the third place winner receives $5,000.
