Type: Science fiction/fantasy writing and illustration contest

Eligibility: All entries must be original works from participants around the world. The writers contest is only open to open only to those who have not professionally published a novel or short novel, or more than one novelette, or more than three short stories, in any medium. The illustrator contest is open to new and amateur artists who have not been professionally published and paid for more than three black-and-white story illustrations, or more than one process-color painting.

Highlight: Interested in turning your passion for science fiction and fantasy into a recognized illustration and writing career? If so, the L. Ron Hubbard Writers and Illustrators of the Future Contest is science fiction contest that offers aspiring artists and writers a platform to showcase their talent, gain international recognition, and be published alongside award-winning authors. Participants of the illustrator contest submit three original pieces for the chance to win quarterly prizes of $500 and compete for a $5,000 grand prize and the Golden Brush Award. Winners of the writing contest will also be able to receive a grand Golden Pen Award of $5,000 and the top three winners will receive up to $1,000 every quarter. The winners of this science fiction contest have the opportunity to gain worldwide exposure and the opportunity to make connections to advance in their professional careers. This science fiction contest also allows the winners to receive feedback from world-class illustrators or writers and have the opportunity to attend a Hollywood workshop to network with industry leaders. After the winners have had a chance to attend the workshop and network with professionals, this contest culminates in the annual gala awards ceremony.
