Highlight: Climate Change is one of the biggest issues on every global citizen’s plate, resulting in a chain of innovative solutions proposed to resolve this pressing issue. The Grist Write the Future story writing contest invites anyone over 18 years of age to write a story imagining a future with creative solutions to climate change. Participants need to write a story of 3,000 to 5,000 words that envision the next 180 years of climate progress rooted in adaptation, reform, and hope. Feel free to explore different genres as you write up your submission for this story writing contest. You could write up a wholesome romance of two budding climate scientists or a science fantasy of a rogue alien tasked with solving climate change – It’s up to you! Climate connects to every part of life; thus all sorts of stories can be climate stories. The winning writer of this story writing contest will be awarded $3,000, with second and third place winners receiving $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. An additional nine finalists will each receive $300. All winners and finalists of this story writing contest will have their story published in an immersive collection on Grist’s website.
