Entry to this short story competition is limited to teens ages 14-19 who are students in public, separate, private, home school, university or college situations in Ontario.
The fee is $5.00 per entry
A cover page must be included and must list the title of the submission, the name of the student, the name of the school attended (if applicable), it’s telephone number and email address
Application Deadline: Mid-May: Deadline for submissions.
Mid-June: Date for Announcement of winners
Mid -September: Winners will read their works at the Meet the Authors evening, and will receive their awards.

Then it seems like the Stephen Leacock Humorous Short Story Competition was made just for you. Teenagers who are currently 14-19 years old, and attending public, separate, private, home school, university or college in Ontario are eligible for this humorous short story competition. You also need to pay a fee of $5.00 per entry to submit your story to the humorous short story competition. But it is totally worth it, because the top three winners of the humorous short story competition will receive $300-$1000 in cash prizes. In addition, you will also get your hands on two tickets for the ‘Meet the Authors’ night in Orillia held in mid-September, and have the opportunity to read your short stories to the audience. To enter the humorous short story competition and have a chance to bag these prizes, all you need to do is craft a humorous short story of 1500 words. The submission for the humorous short story competition must include a cover page with the title of the submission, the name of the student, the name of the school attended (if applicable), its telephone number and email address. Get started on your short story now, and mail three copies of each entry, and the entry fee to Christine Spear, Contest Registrar, 8-40 Victoria Crescent, Orillia, Ontario, L3V 6N6 before time runs out in mid-May. You won’t have to wait very long, because your stories will be judged by professional writers and the results of the humorous short story competition will be announced in mid-June!
