Eligibility: 

  • Must be a Junior or Senior in High School in the United States.
  • May only submit one application per the BMI Foundation awards program.
  • Respond to either one of the two given prompts (either “how has your racial, ethnic or cultural identity influenced your approach to your work and your dreams for the future?” or “describe how music, theater, or live performance can be a transformative experience for both performer and audience. Why is live performance important and what do you hope to contribute to the field?”

This unique music scholarship program, presented by the BMI Foundation, supports high school juniors and seniors with a passion for the arts. Designed to help you pursue your dreams, the award provides financial assistance for auditions, art school visits, summer programs, and even music scholarships for performing arts high schools in New York, California, and Michigan. As a participant, you’ll have the chance to showcase your creativity and share your story by responding to one of two thought-provoking prompts. Whether reflecting on how your racial, ethnic, or cultural identity has shaped your dreams or exploring the transformative power of live performance, this is your opportunity to stand out. The Chris Trousdale Dream Awards honor the legacy of the late performer and composer by providing the next generation of artists with tools to reach their full potential.
