Eligibility:
- Between the ages of 13 – 30
- Must be a US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Student with a valid US Student Visa
- The entry must be the applicant’s original piece within the last 3 years. Entry can be either published or unpublished
- Sampled work will not be considered
- Co-written or co-composed work will not be considered
- The submission may be a mp3 ((if available) of an electronic recording of the musical piece. Submissions must have the applicant’s name
- The applicant must complete the online application
- If the applicant is under 18, the parent or guardian must submit the online application and a copy of the Parental Consent Form. Both forms can be found on the website
- Only 1 submission per candidate is considered. If multiple are submitted, only the 1st will be considered.
- Previous recipients of three or more Morton Gould Young Composer Awards are not eligible for consideration for these awards

Highlight: Interested in gaining musical and creative experience? If so, the Morton Gould Young Composer Awards is the perfect opportunity for you! The Morton Gould Young Composer Awards allows teenagers and adults who are U.S. citizens to explore their musical abilities and passion by creating an original piece of music to express their talents. Judges from the panel of ASCAP will be judging all of the music compositions that are sent in and will select several winners. The music composition should be an original piece created no more than in the last three years and it cannot be a co-written piece. The Morton Gould Young Composer Awards is an incredible opportunity to be creative and explore your interests. Applications are open in the months of January and February, so make sure to send in your application!
