• Have citizenship in a country OTHER than the U.S.
• Hold an academic degree (earned in the U.S. or abroad) equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree completed by application date.
• Most awards are for study in the US but there are a few granted for study abroad as well to women who are members of Graduate Women’s international (GWI) affiliates…and study cannot be in the applicant’s home country)
• Intend to devote themselves full-time to the proposed academic plan
• Verified English proficiency

The American Association of University Women provides an extensive fellowship program that covers the expenses of a professional degree for women. To be eligible for this fellowship program, applicants must identify as a woman with verified English proficiency (they’ll give you a test!) and have citizenship in a country OTHER THAN the US. They must also plan to return to their home country to advance their career. Applicants must also have an academic degree equivalent to that of the US bachelor’s degree (completed in the US or abroad) before the application deadline to be eligible for this fellowship program. This fellowship program is open to all fields of study and before submitting their applications, students should have already applied to an accredited institution for further studies. Awardees for this fellowship program are selected based on merit, conviction and financial need. This fellowship program provides $20,000 for a master’s degree (first professional degree), $25,000 for a doctorate degree and $50,000 for postdoctoral research.
